Henan Boric Chemical Technology Co., Ltd.

Many customers who do wood import and export, in order to prevent a large number of wood in their hands from being eroded by various bacteria and termites and other microorganisms, often use boric acid as a preservative for scientific preservative storage. But do you know why boric acid is antiseptic?

As we all know, when the moisture content of wood exceeds 35%, the ambient temperature is 25 ~ 35℃ in the air, wood will breed a kind of bacteria called fungi. Fungi can be mainly divided into mold, discoloration bacteria and decay bacteria, the first two kinds of bacteria can only make the wood surface local moldy and discoloration, little impact on its quality, and decay bacteria parasitic in the wood cell wall, it can secrete an enzyme, the wood cell wall decomposition into nutrients for their own uptake survival, so that the wood decay destruction. As an inorganic weak acid, boric acid can penetrate into the interior of microbial cells by changing the osmotic pressure of microbial cells, and combine with the water molecules inside the cells, resulting in the reduction of water inside the cells and the increase of osmotic pressure, thus making them lose their viability. In addition, the PH value of boric acid is low, it can also inhibit the activity of microbial metabolic enzymes, affect the microbial enzyme system, hinder microbial energy metabolism and material transport, so as to achieve the effect of sterilization and insect killing. In the process of use, the boric acid is usually made into a special ointment and applied to the wood, or the wood soaked with boric acid and ethylene glycol is driven into the wood, which has the advantage that the boric acid agent can go deep into the wood and kill bacteria and insects.
